After months of anticipation, Pokemon GO is finally available to download on your iOS and Android devices – sorry Windows phone owners. This augmented reality Pokemon game allows users to explore the real world, catch their own pocket monsters and even become the leader of their very own gym. It’s expected that other countries will soon see a release within the next 24 hours, although there hasn’t been any official notice from Nintendo themselves.
Using your phone’s GPS and camera, the app emphasises exploration to find nearby Pokemon and will open players eyes to the world around them. Landmarks in your area will count as PokeStops where you can stock up on useful items found in the original games – make sure you don’t run out of those Pokeballs!
Head over to Google Play or the Apple App Store to download the game, remembering that it’s free to play with optional microtransactions. Some older smartphones are unfortunately not compatible with the app so it might be time to upgrade your device in that instance.
